FPH General Assembly held at Kigali, 23 June 2016

On Thursday, 23 June 2016, the Friends Peace House (FPH) General Assembly, lead by Rev. David BUCURA, the legal representative of Evangelical Friends Church of Rwanda, took place at Gasharu Peace Garden in Kigali. 30 people attended, including those from the FPH management board, the office staff at Kigali, the project coordinators, and the district field staff. The Assembly heard reports from FPH’s four departments:

*Peace Department, including eight projects: AVP (Alternative to Violence Program), HROC (Healing and Rebuilding Our Communities), HIPP (Help Increase Peace Program), Transformational Mediation, TTT (Turning The Tide), Peace Radio, Refugee Counseling and Mediation and Refugee Re-integration.

*Education Department: (Mwana Nshuti Vocational Training Centers)

*Community Development Department including three projects: Conservation Agriculture (Guhinga mu buryo bw’Imana — Farming in God’s way), Saving For Life — Kuzigamira Ubuzima) and Kitchen Garden

*Good Governance Department including two programs: Election Observation and Citizen Legal Education.

The General Assembly approved the reports, acclaiming the success of FPH in the last year. Recommendations going forward included advertising and advocacy to extend community development projects to reach more areas of the country, and providing more ways for volunteers to engage in the work and ministry of the Friends Peace House Rwanda.
